Tigers Rally Past Bulldogs 8-7 In 10 Innings

MSU appeared headed for a sweep of the two-game series, building up a 7-0 lead off UM starter Zach Cook, who allowed all seven Bulldog runs on eight hits in 1.2 innings.
Matthew Maniscalco opened the game with a bunt single, Steve Gendron followed with a double and Matthew Brinson drove them in with a double. State added three more runs in the second, the big blow a two-out Brinson blast to straightaway center field. Brinson drove in a season-high five runs with his two extra-base hits.
Bulldog pitching was in control for most of the game, with freshman starter Brad Corley blanking UM with one-hit pitching during a career-longest five-inning start.

Daniel de Armas (1-0) retired the Bulldogs in order in the 10th, setting the stage for Martin's game-winning shot to left.
The Bulldogs out-hit the Tigers 9-8, with Brinson and Maniscalco collecting a pair of hits each and Steve Gendron lashing a double to extend his hitting streak to a career high-matching 11 games.
The Bulldogs continue their season-longest five-game road trip this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark., taking on the Arkansas Razorbacks (18-2, 2-1 SEC) in a three-game series. Friday's opener at Baum Stadium/Cole Field is set for 6:30 p.m., with junior lefty Paul Maholm (2-1, 1.50) set to start for the Bulldogs.
