Lady Bulldog Track Signs Canadian Distance Runner

Winter ran track at Ross Shepard High School in Edmonton for head coach Wally Strang. She earned provincial silver medals in the 1500 and 3000 meters and as a part of the 4x400-meter relay team.
Winter, who earned academic honors with distinction at Shepard High School, lists her best time in the 800m as 2:23 and had her best 1500m clocked at 4:57. She ran the mile in 5:19 and completed her best 3000m in high school in 10:43. She placed 10th in the mile at the Simplot Games.
"Lindsay is a real addition to our distance group," said Schmidt. "She adds more depth to our cross country team, where we hope to be really strong next year."
Wilson is the second athlete to sign with Mississippi State from Canada this year, after Ottawa's Anne Fyfe inked with the Lady Bulldogs earlier in the signing period. Wilson will join Edmonton area natives Meggan Hodge, Janice Zawaski and Christine Zawaski on the Lady Bulldogs' cross country and track teams next season.
Winter is the daughter of Gwen and Joe Winter.
