STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State's 11th-ranked men's track team added two more NCAA qualifiers to its ranks on the final day of competition Sunday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Junior Pierre Browne and sophomore Marquis Davis finished second (20.68) and third (20.70), respectively, in the 200-meter dash invitational race Sunday. Their times qualify both runners provisionally for the NCAA Championships at the end of the season.
MSU's women also had a good meet this weekend. Late Saturday night, freshman Tiffany McWilliams ran the fastest 1500m (4:23.00) in Lady Bulldog history, provisionally qualifying her for the NCAAs. The Red Bay, Ala., native placed third in the event.
MSU's senior sprinters Dion Crabbe and Camille Harper competed on Sunday and made good showings for themselves. Crabbe placed eighth in the invitational 100m (10.34) event and took second in the university section of the 200m (20.78). The all-American Harper placed fourth in the women's university 100m with a mark of 11.73 and tied for tenth in the 200m (24.06).
MSU's men's 4x100m relay team took yet another victory on Sunday, winning the invitational race in Walnut, Calif. The team of freshman Glenn McFadden, Davis, Crabbe and Browne circled the oval in 39.16, the third-fastest time in school history.
The track teams head out again next week to the Penn Relays, which start Thursday, April 25 in Philadelphia, Penn.
