MSU Women's Track Inks Duo

Kinney excelled in cross country for three years at St. Benedict in Cordova, Tenn. She won the state championship during her sophomore campaign and took the regional championship twice. She was also named the team MVP the past two seasons.
Ellis was the Mississippi 5A long jump champion last year and helped her team to the state title. A versatile athlete, she played soccer and basketball for two years at Columbus, winning the best defensive player on the soccer team last year.
"Kinney will be a great asset to our program," said head coach Al Schmidt. "She has a large amount of potential in both cross country and track."
"Ellis is definitely one of the best sprinters in the state who we hope will help us fill some voids on our team."
Kinney also starred on the softball team, where she earned all-state honors last season. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
Bernice Ellis is the daughter of Annie and Ernest Ellis.
Michelle Kinney is the daughter of Jack and Dotty Kinney.
