AUSTIN, Texas -- The relay teams of the fifth-ranked Mississippi State men's track squad posted wins in two events Saturday to conclude action at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The team of freshman Glenn McFadden, sophomore Marquis Davis, senior Dion Crabbe and junior Pierre Browne won both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays at Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
In the 4x100, the team rounded the oval track in 39.13, just 1/100 of a second off the school record set in 1986 but still good enough for an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. The Bulldogs took the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:22.89.
Browne also tied for third in the invitational section of the 100-meter dash. The Toronto native won his heat with a mark of 10.29, the best time of any collegiate athlete in the race.
In the 100-meter dash university finals, Crabbe (10.43) and Davis (10.49) took sixth and seventh, respectively. Crabbe's time is his best this season.
Also, freshman distance standout Tiffany McWilliams finished sixth in the 1500-meter run. The current SEC female track athlete of the week ran a 4:26.00, inching ever closer to a provisional qualifying time.
The teams will return home next weekend for the Jace Lacoste Invitational at Spencer Stadium/Maddox Track Saturday, April 13.
