State Works For Two Hours In Full Pads Monday

Head football coach Jackie Sherrill's squad worked on some individual contact drills and offense vs. defense team scrimmage situations during the practice. Monday's hitting on the turf at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field was an abrupt change from the preceding day's work in sweats. Both practices were conducted in the stadium due to the recent wet weather, which has left the practice fields behind Shira Complex virtually unusable.
State continued its spring work without offensive tackles Derrick and Eric Thompson, both of whom are nursing sore knees. Wide receiver Ray Ray Bivines did not practice as well Monday. He was still feeling the effects of a migraine headache.
Dog safety Walter Burdett, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in State's final contact work before the spring break, was relegated to riding the stationary bicycle on the side of the playing field while wearing a shoulder sling.
