Chilly Temperatures Do Not Deter Bulldogs

"We were anxious to get started," Sherrill said. "I don't really think the conditions had any affect on the players."
The team's Monday drills were the first of three NCAA-mandated practices in sweats, shoulder pads and head gear only. Sherrill worked his offense, defense and special teams separately for two hours under the lights at the Shira Athletic Complex.
Sherrill, now the dean of Southeastern Conference head football coaches, echoed many of the same goals that he has had for his program through the past 11 years of spring practices.
"We want to stay healthy, help each player improve individually on and off the field, develop some depth, and improve as a football team overall," Sherrill said. "We have to find players in every facet of the game and come out of spring knowing our strengths and weaknesses, and know what we have to do to be ready in the fall."
