Williams, Hunter Record New MSU Records In Pentathlon At SEC Indoors

Williams placed second in the event with 3,801 points, surpassing Lady Bulldog great LaTonya Hill for the record mark.
Hunter placed tenth in the men's pentathlon with 3,647 points, taking over the top spot from Jace Lacoste. Freshman LaChristopher Lewis placing 14th in his first multi-event competition with 3,447 points.
The Milton, Fla., native Williams tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5-5 ?ľ. She placed second in the shot put (41-5 ?ľ) and took third in the long jump (19-7) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.96). She finished 12th in the 800 meters (2:44.58).
Hunter had his best showing in the long jump, where he placed seventh (22-9 ?ľ). The D'iberville, Miss., native finished ninth in the high jump (6-2 ?ľ) and tenth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.50).
The freshman Lewis competed well in the events, placing sixth in the long jump (22-11 ?ľ) and seventh in the high jump (6-4).
Competition continues Saturday in the Randal Tyson Track Center with the women's weight throw beginning at 1 p.m.
