Lady Bulldogs In 11th at SEC Tournament

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Mississippi State womens golf team shot a 317 on the opening day of play at the Southeastern Conference Championships in Gainesville, Fla. The Lady Bulldogs are in 11th place. Senior Lina Thoren leads MSU, shooting a 76 on the par-72 University of Florida Golf Course. Thoren is tied for 25th in the individual competition.

Sophomore Anna Knutsson is one-stroke behind Thoren after carding a 77, tying her for 31st. Junior Anna Gertsson sits in a tie for 44th after posting an opening round score of 79. Senior Renata Almeida shot an 85 and is tied for 54th, while freshman Ashley Moffett rounds out the MSU lineup, carding an 86 to tie for 57th.

Louisiana State leads the championships with a one-under par score of 287, while South Carolinas Kristy McPherson posted a five-under par score of 67 to lead the individual competition.

Second round action resumes Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
