Pair Are Top Scorers On Nation's Top-Ranked Girls' High School Soccer Team STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State soccer head coach Neil McGuire announced the fifth and sixth of an expected eight spring signees Thursday afternoon as Texas natives Jessi Moore (Grapevine, Texas/Colleyville Heritage HS) and Amy Van Zandt (Grapevine, Texas/Colleyville Heritage HS) signed their names to national letters of intent to continue their playing careers at Mississippi State. Moore and Van Zandt, starters and leading point scorers for the Colleyville Heritage Lady Panthers, both were honored recently after scoring their 100th prep goals. Colleyville Heritage is currently the nation's No. 1-ranked girls' high school soccer team according to FoxSports.com. "Amy and Jessi are tremendous additions to our program and we feel fortunate to have them," McGuire said. "Both are very talented soccer players who have an inherent knack for scoring goals, something that every team needs. They, like all of this class, have an excellent soccer pedigree which can only enhance our program's development." Moore comes to Mississippi State in the midst of an impressive year with Colleyville Heritage. Through 11 games this season, she has scored 17 goals and collected four assists for the unbeaten Panther squad. She has already collected Plano Tournament All-Tournament team, Fort Worth Star Telegram Athlete of the Week and Dallas Morning News Player of the Week accolades. Last season, Moore netted 30 goals while adding 14 assists in a talent-rich area of Texas. She collected Plano Tournament MVP honors and, at season's end, was decorated with the District 11-4A Offensive Player of the Year award and earned a spot on both the Fort Worth Star Telegram and Dallas Morning News first teams. Jessi is also a state of Texas Olympic Development Program participant, having qualified for two North Texas state teams and the 1999 Region 3 pool team. An excellent student as well, Moore currently holds down a 5.16 GPA on a 5.0 scale at Colleyville. She is a member of the A honor roll, has participated in several advanced placement classes and is a member of the National Honor Society. She currently ranks 24th in her class of 396. Moore is the daughter of George and Glenda Moore. She has a younger sister, Sara. Van Zandt has been equally impressive this season with her high school squad, scoring 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists. In addition to her athletic prowess in this her senior season, Van Zandt scored 34 points on 14 goals and 20 assists last season for Colleyville Heritage en route to helping lead her team to a 22-1-1 record. At season's end, she collected first team all-district, second team all-area and team offensive MVP accolades. Amy is also five-year participant in the state of Texas ODP program. An accomplished student as well, Van Zandt currently maintains a 4.75 GPA on a 5.0 scale and ranks 85th in her class of 396. Born Amy Nicole Van Zandt on November 29, 1982, she is the daughter of Robin and Bill Van Zandt. She has one older brother, Ryan. Together, Van Zandt and Moore have helped lead their Dallas Sting club organization to three north Texas state championships (1997, 1998, 2000) and four state and regional championships. The squad took home the WAGS championship and a finals appearance at the SURF tournament. The club is also a seven-time champion of the LHGCL Grand tournament and a five-time champion of the Plano Labor Day Tournament.
