Starkville, Miss. – Coming off a strong junior season, two Mississippi State women's golfers have been selected to compete as individuals in the NCAA Regionals, slated for May 5-7 in Baton Rouge.
After a stellar performance in the SEC Championship a week ago, where she finished T20 overall, Jessica Peng will head to the regional competing as the fourth out of six individual seeds. Peng led the team in the lowest stroke average (74.3) as well as in birdies, with 63 on the season.
“I didn't have the season that I had hoped for this year, and I think that I am very lucky to get to go to the regional,” Peng said. “It will give me another chance to perform my best and finish strong.”
Joining Peng is Ji Eun Baik. With three Top 20 finishes on the year, she holds the most on the team. Baik finished with the second-lowest stroke average at 74.7.
“I am so blessed to go to the regional,” Baik said. “I will be practicing and playing a lot to build confidence in my game. Jessica and I making it to nationals will be incredible so I really want to give it my all to make that happen.”
The LSU University Club will play host to the tournament. Live scoring will be provided through Golfstat.com, as well as @hailstateWG on all social media.
