
MSU Closes Road Trip Wednesday At LA Tech

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following a Southeastern Conference weekend on the road, the Mississippi State softball team (21-18) will step out of league play to take on Louisiana Tech (21-13) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The midweek matchup will mark the first non-conference contest for MSU since Tuesday, March 29 after having a rainout on Wednesday, April 6 that was rescheduled for Tuesday, April 26. The Bulldogs are 19-8 outside of SEC play thus far in 2016.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs are coming off of a weekend on the road against No. 4 Alabama in which State was unable to take a game from the 2015 NCAA Women's College World Series Participant. Junior Katie Anne Bailey homered in the finale on Sunday, while sophomore Calyn Adams and junior Mackenzie Toler each added multiple-hit games over the weekend.
TEAM & PLAYER NOTES
· In its 25th season of varsity softball and year 20 of Southeastern Conference softball, MSU has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last nine seasons with appearances in four consecutive postseason events.
· The Bulldogs are 38 in the most recent RPI ranking of the season and over the remainder of its regular-season schedule, State will play 12 games against teams with top-14 RPIs, including six on the road vs. Florida (2) and Kentucky (14).
· MSU's strength of schedule this season is seventh in all of Division I, which stems from 32 of its 56 regular-season games being against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams including 15 games vs. WCWS participants.
· In the midst of season five of the Vann Stuedeman era, State has amassed a total of 58 comeback victories under Stuedeman with eight of those having come this season.
· Bailey is the most dangerous hitter for MSU in 2016 as she leads the Bulldogs in batting average (.339), hits (42), doubles (7), slugging percentage (.476) and two-out RBI (11).
· Senior Kayla Winkfield has swung the hottest bat among the Bulldogs in SEC play with a batting average of .429 on 15 hits, one double, one triple, a slugging percentage of .514 and an on-base percentage of .444.

The Bulldogs will return home for Super Bulldog Weekend for a three-game SEC series with No. 11 LSU that will begin Friday at 5:34 p.m. CT. Admission is free for all regular season games at Nusz Park.
