Wednesday Bulldog Update - 3/30/16
March 30, 2016
If you or someone you know is not receiving this and would like to, please e-mail us at:

As we begin today’s column, a quick reminder that Thursday (TOMORROW!) is the deadline to renew football season tickets for 2016. Last year season tickets sold out, so the only ones that will be available to Bulldog Club members this season will be any that don’t get renewed by the deadline. If you have any questions about your account, please feel free to contact the ticket office at (888) GO-DAWGS.
RIVALRY WEEKEND ON THE DIAMOND
Campus is preparing for four big days this weekend on the diamond, with both baseball and softball hosting Ole Miss for important SEC series. Baseball began the week with an enjoyable win over Southern Miss in Pearl last night, a nice RPI boost against a quality Golden Eagle team. Now the 10th-ranked Diamond Dogs turn their attention to our friends from Oxford, who come to Dudy Noble Field this weekend (Friday 6:30 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m., and Sunday 1:30 p.m.). We’ll have fireworks after the game on Friday night, as well as a host of other promotions throughout the weekend, so make sure to come out to the park for what promises to be an exciting series.
Meanwhile, our softball team has a slightly unique schedule, playing Ole Miss Saturday-Monday at Nusz Park, with all three games slated for 6 p.m. each day. Another note on softball: fewer than 50 tickets remain for the SEC Softball Tournament that MSU will host in May. Make sure to grab tickets now at www.hailstate.com/tickets.
And for those golf-loving Bulldogs, Monday and Tuesday provides a great opportunity (fitting at the beginning of Masters week) as our men’s team hosts the annual Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. MSU will be joined by 15 other teams, including Kansas State, Southern Miss, West Virginia and Ole Miss.
WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK’S EMAIL IN MAROON AND WHITE
- A reminder among all the action this weekend that, due to expected inclement weather Thursday, women’s tennis’ match against No. 5 Vanderbilt has been rescheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. Make plans to come join us Friday and then again on Saturday at 1 p.m. as our 28th-ranked Bulldogs host Kentucky.
- Good luck on the road to our 25th-ranked men’s tennis team as they play matches at Ole Miss Friday and Arkansas Sunday.
- Congratulations to sophomore track and field standout Curtis Thompson, who was named the SEC Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. Curtis broke the MSU record in the javelin throw with a 265-10 mark, the top throw in the country so far this year.
- Also, men’s tennis’ Nuno Borges was named SEC Freshman of the Week after posting singles wins against both Florida and Auburn. He is the second Bulldog to earn the honor this year, joining teammate Nic Braun (who’s won it twice).
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
