
MSU Relay Clinches Sixth At Indoor Nationals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Scoring on the track at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Mississippi State foursome of Juston Waters, Brandon McBride, Alfred Larry and Rasheed Tatham brought home a sixth-place finish in the 4x400m relay.
The team ran a time of 3:06.30, the second-fastest time in program history.
“We came here with the intention of scoring points, and we walked away very successful,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “These guys all ran hard tonight. Now we will look to continue to improve as we head into the outdoors season.”
Starting off the relay for the Bulldogs was sophomore Waters, making his NCAA Indoor Championships debut, running a time of 47.10. Waters passed off to senior McBride who recorded a time of 46.40. Clocking a time of 46.32, Larry was the third leg for MSU. Running the anchor for MSU was freshman Tatham, who gave it everything he had, ran a time of 46.49.
The Maroon and White fell 1/100 of a second to SEC rival Tennessee to finish second in its section. LSU captured the victory in the event.
Scoring three points in the relay, the men's team finished tied for 51st place. Oregon brought home the men's championship with 62 points.
With the conclusion of the championships, the Mississippi State track and field teams will turn attention toward the outdoor season starting March 18 at the Alabama Relays.
