Wednesday Bulldog Update - 2/24/16
February 24, 2016 | Athletics
If you or someone you know is not receiving this and would like to, please e-mail us at:

Before we jump into all that is happening this week in Bulldog athletics, I wanted to quickly congratulate our teams for their widespread success last weekend. Of the 13 head-to-head contests MSU teams competed in, the Maroon and White was victorious in 11 of them, including basketball road wins in Tuscaloosa (men) and Oxford (women) … two places where it's always fun to win!
March is only days away as our basketball teams near postseason play. And with the excitement of postseason basketball nearing, it is appropriate that we honor one of the greatest runs in Mississippi State history, as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Final Four team at this Saturday's men's game. In addition to a reunion on Friday night for those players and coaches, we will have them in attendance at Saturday's game against South Carolina at 1:30 p.m. (SEC Network).
I hope all of you will make plans to join us and welcome back so many of these Bulldog legends. Bulldog fans will never forget following their run through the regular season, the SEC Tournament championship and all the way to New York for the Final Four. Memories like the ones so many of us have and moments like this weekend ensure that those accomplishments will never be forgotten here at Mississippi State.
FOUR-GAME HOME WEEKEND FOR BASEBALL
It's a busy weekend on campus with four different Bulldog teams playing at home, and our Top 25 baseball club will be particularly busy with a four-game weekend hosting Nicholls State and UMASS-Lowell, highlighted by a doubleheader on Saturday.
As has been common in the past when hosting basketball and baseball games on the same day, men's basketball parking will have priority on Saturday, so please be prepared to adhere to those guidelines. Additionally, as we know many of you will want to attend as many events as possible, those of you who attend the first baseball game (11 a.m.) will be allowed to use your ticket to re-enter Dudy Noble for the second game later that day, so feel free to hop over to basketball in between games and have your ticket re-scanned later for the second baseball game (3:30 p.m.).
FINAL HOME GAME FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
While I first wish our 16th-ranked women's basketball team good luck tomorrow night at Vanderbilt, I also want to make sure to remind everyone that Sunday's game against Alabama at 1:30 p.m. is the final regular-season home game. Of course, we are still hopeful that a few more wins will allow the Bulldogs to host NCAA Tournament action in the Hump in March, but until then this will be your last opportunity to see the women at home this season.
In addition to the usual festivities, we will be honoring our one senior, forward Sherise Williams.
WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK'S EMAIL IN MAROON AND WHITE
- Our women's track and field team will be competing at the SEC Indoor Championships this weekend in Fayetteville, and our No. 23 softball team heads south again this weekend for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Tournament in Gulfport (go support them if you're nearby!).
- Big congratulations to Coach Daryl Greenan and our women's tennis team for reaching No. 25 in the country as the program continues to make a name for itself on the national stage. Our ladies host a doubleheader on Saturday, playing ULL at 10 a.m., and Southern Miss at 2 p.m. If you've not attended a match at the Pitts Tennis Center since the renovation, you'll enjoy coming out and sitting in the nice new chairback seats.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
