A standout pitcher from Carrollton, Ga., Emily Williams is the fifth member of the Bulldogs' 2017 signing class.
Georgia Ace Emily Williams Joins 2017 Bulldog Signing Class

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After dominating the circle for the last four years at Central High School in Carrollton, Ga., star pitcher Emily Williams joins the Mississippi State softball program as the fifth member of the standout 2017 signing class.
"Emily will be a huge addition to our pitching staff," MSU coach Vann Stuedeman said. "She induces swing and misses and gets outs and those are two of my favorite attributes when recruiting pitchers. She is a brilliant young lady, both in the classroom as well as possessing a high softball IQ. Those two qualities that will prove to be extremely helpful as she approaches competing in the best league in the land. I am thrilled she chose Mississippi State and I cannot wait to get to work with her."
Williams' signing with the Maroon and White continues Stuedeman's legacy for attracting the top pitching talent in the nation to Starkville.
"I chose Mississippi State because of the awesome coaches, the great facilities and the family atmosphere that is felt throughout campus," Williams said.
A stellar four years in the circle for CHS came to a close this fall, as Williams closed out her high school career with a pair of regional championships and a state title her senior season.
Williams helped CHS to a combined 67-11 in her first two seasons and garnered Co-Newcomer of the Year honors her freshman season. Junior year saw Williams rocket into stardom, as she paced her squad to a 25-11 record and a second-straight regional title. For her efforts, she was named both Region and All-Area Pitcher of the Year, while capturing her first All-State First Team honor.
The ace would close out her high school career with a bang, pacing the Lions to a Georgia High School 4A State Championship. Williams' pitching prowess was on full display during the state tournament, as she tossed three no-hitters and a one-hitter to lead CHS to the title. Of the 84 outs she recorded throughout the state tourney, 74 came via strikeout.
The Carrollton native grabbed All-Area MVP honors and once again was named Region Pitcher of the Year. She also earned the title of Georgia High School 4A State Pitcher of the Year. The awards did not stop there, as Williams added a second-straight All-State First Team honor and the prestigious Georgia Dugout Club 4A Player of the Year award to her resume.
On the travel ball scene, Williams has put together an impressive career with the AL Birmingham Thunderbolts 98, led by coach Ryan Greenwood. Williams was crucial in the Thunderbolts capturing the 2015 Atlanta Legacy Championship. She now currently plays for the Atlanta Vipers and coach Dickey Vallery.
The daughter of Jason and Pam Williams, Emily is a four-year honor roll student at CHS. When not dominating on the diamond, Williams enjoys shopping, church activities and deep sea fishing. One of her favorite hobbies is to travel and says that one of her all-time favorite places is Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii, Italy.
