Mia Davidson joins the Bulldogs as the No. 4 player in FloSoftball's 2017 class rankings.
Stuedeman Lands Fourth-Best Recruit In Mia Davidson For 2017

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Headlining the ninth-ranked 2017 Mississippi State softball class will be the nation's fourth-best recruit, as Vann Stuedeman announced the signing of Mia Davidson.
"Mia's resume speaks for itself, but what it doesn't say is what separates her from the rest. She is genuinely kind and is humbled by her softball talents. She is a teammates teammate, one who is willing to go the cages and hit all night if that's what it takes," Stuedeman said. "She has a fire within to be the best and a passion for competition. We are thrilled she will be wearing the Maroon and White next season."
A native of Hillsborough, N.C., Davidson is the younger sister of current Bulldog freshman Montana Davidson. Mia has been a standout for Orange High School and in the state of North Carolina. She recently was awarded the honor of North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, as well as being named to the American Family Insurance All-USA Team.
Davidson began the year ranked eighth in FloSoftball's 2017 class rankings, but jumped up to fourth in the final rankings, making her one of the highest-ranked recruits in MSU softball history.
"The reason I chose MSU was because of the great facilities, the family environment and an overall great program that you can create something out of," Davidson said.
Stellar would almost come as an understatement when describing Davidson's high school career to date. A three-time All-Conference, All-District and All-State honoree, Davidson has also reeled in three-straight 3A District Player of the Year awards, along with two Big 8 Conference Player of the Year honors.
In her freshman season, Davidson fired off a .522 clip with 25 RBIs, 12 home runs and a .681 OBP to lead Orange High School to a 14-5 record. She skyrocketed her performance in her next two seasons, starting with a sophomore year that saw her hit .729 with 28 RBIs and 11 homers. She also elevated her on-base percentage up to an astounding .819.
Most recently, Davidson's junior season saw her earn team captain status while she set career highs across the board. Davidson would lead OHS to a 23-4 record and a third round appearance of the Class 3A state playoffs behind a .740 clip, .851 OBP, 49 RBIs and 18 home runs.
She finished her junior season just two home runs short of the NCHSSA career record of 43 and also finished one short of the NCHSSA single-season record of 19.
Davidson's 2016 campaign saw her break onto the national stage by earning a MaxPrep Player of the Week honor. She also picked up All-Metro Player of the Year honors for the third-straight season, as she has swept the award since arriving in 2014.
The travel ball scene for Davidson has seen her play with two squads: the NC Lady Lightning Gold (coach John Corn) and the AL Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier (coach Rocky Thompson.
Davidson started out with the NC Lady Lightning Gold, advancing to a 13th-place finish at PGF Nationals. She is currently with the Thunderbolts, alongside future Bulldogs Kinsey Goelz, Alex Wilcox and O'Neil Roberson.
Along with being FloSoftball's fourth-ranked player in the 2017 class, Davidson has also earned numerous Select30 All-American honors, including grabbing First Team status.
Davidson has been a standout in the classroom throughout her high school career, maintaining a 3.96 GPA. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Davidson has also been actively involved in the community, helping raise funds to send seriously ill children to summer camps and also volunteering at her local food bank, among other activities.
