Preston Smith has started in all eight games this season for Washington.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Former Bulldog and current Washington Redskin Preston Smith is the latest to be featured on Mississippi State football's #FromStateToSundays digital billboard campaign.
The digital billboards will be on display Sunday in two locations in Washington D.C., with the Redskins hosting the Minnesota Vikings at noon CT live on FOX:
Smith was drafted in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Redskins. Despite playing defensive end for the Bulldogs, Smith made a seamless transition to the outside linebacker position. He made his NFL debut on Sept. 13, 2015, against the Miami Dolphins, recording his first forced fumble and fumble recovery by sacking Ryan Tannehill—his first career sack. In his rookie season, he played in all 16 games, including drawing the starting nod in two of them. He racked up 35 tackles, including 8.0 sacks. So far this season, Smith has started in all eight games for Washington, tallying 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Smith burst on the scene at MSU as a three-star prospect out of Stone Mountain, Georgia, seeing immediate playing time at defensive end in his true freshman season in 2011. As a sophomore in 2012, Smith led the Bulldogs defensive unit with 4.5 sacks. In 2013, he was one of the key leaders on the defensive line, starting in 11 of the 12 games he played in while also being named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Liberty Bowl after notching a game-high six tackles. Smith continued his stellar play into his senior season in 2014, helping the Bulldogs to its first-ever No. 1 ranking that it held for five consecutive weeks. He was named first-team All-SEC by the league's coaches while also being named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for three straight weeks and culminated his career by playing in the prestigious Reese's Senior Bowl.
Last weekend, MSU featured New York Giant Deontae Skinner in two locations within the Meadowlands Sports Complex surrounding MetLife Stadium. The linebacker played a key role in helping MSU reach consecutive bowl games for four straight seasons between 2010 and 2013.
A total of 12 Bulldogs are currently on active NFL rosters. Another two are on injured reserve and five others are on practice squads. All 19 of them played for Dan Mullen at State.
