STARKVILLE, Miss. – After signing two standouts on Wednesday, the Mississippi State women's golf team capped its 2017 signing class with the addition of New Zealand golfer Ela Grimwood.
"I'm thrilled this year to sign three top players to this new class," MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "The addition of Ela Grimwood is a big pick up for the team. She is an international star."
The Bulldogs received confirmation early Thursday morning that the Auckland, New Zealand, resident would be the first player from the country to join the Bulldog squad since All-American Rica Tse.
Grimwood notched 12 starts in the New Zealand Women's Order of Merit tour, where she carded seven Top-10 finishes. She finished third in the New Zealand Under 19's and North Island Women's Stroke Play.
Grimwood also added a second place finish to her resume at the Charles Tour Taranki Open, where she was defeated on a fourth-hole playoff for first place. She was a quarterfinalist at the New Zealand Women's Amateur Championship, and she won the Hasting Open by a sensational eight strokes.
Grimwood received the Sports Woman of the Year Award in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
She will be joining the squad in January as an early enrollee.
