STARKVILLE, Miss. - Learfield announced today the promotion of Ann Brett Gillespie Strickland to general manager for Bulldog Sports Properties, its local team solely dedicated to representing Mississippi State University Athletics.
Strickland, who has been serving as associate general manager, will transition into the new role on December 1. Before moving to Starkville in December 2013, she served as general manager for Learfield's Idaho Vandals Sports Properties. A collegiate sports executive for 20 years, Strickland held numerous university athletic positions before joining Learfield including assistant athletic director, corporate sponsorship for Western Carolina; assistant athletics director, marketing and promotions for Appalachian State; assistant director of athletics for East Tennessee State; and director of marketing and promotions for Northern Iowa.
She will continue in a role in which she aligns daily with Mississippi State Athletics administration on all aspects involving Learfield's extensive rights relationship ranging from digital, signage and corporate partnerships to radio, television, events and promotions. Don Williams, former Bulldog Sports Properties' general manager the previous eight years, has been promoted to a vice president position within Learfield and is relocating to the company's Plano, Texas headquarters.
"Ann Brett not only is an outstanding individual, but a proven leader and experienced professional in our niche space and she'll continue to be an excellent asset to our brand building initiatives for the Bulldogs," said Learfield Vice President David Hubbard, who oversees properties in the company's South Region.
An industry leader for more than four decades, Learfield has a deep presence in the college athletics landscape nationwide. It manages the multimedia and sponsorship rights for 120 collegiate institutions, conferences and arenas, and supports athletic departments at all competitive levels as title sponsor of the prestigious Learfield Directors' Cup. Learfield also provides its collegiate partners access to professional concessions and ticket sales; licensing and trademark consulting; digital platform expertise; and venue and technology systems through its affiliated companies. Earlier this year, the collegiate marketer also acquired social media agency Think Social.
