Bulldogs Gear Up For Cougar Classic

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's golf seeks to build off its season opener as it heads to Charleston, S.C., Oct. 2-4 to play the Cougar Classic at prestigious Yeaman's Hall Club.
"We are relaxed and playing well this week. This event is played on an exceptional course, and we always love coming back to Yeaman's Hall," MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "With just two players that have seen the course, we don't have the level of comfort as in past years, but we will make up for that in committing to the process. I'm eager to see what this tournament holds."
The 2016 edition of the Cougar Classic features 21 teams, including seven ranked in the Top 30. Mississippi State is one of four Southeastern Conference teams, including reigning champion Arkansas.
Mississippi State heads to South Carolina with the same lineup it sent to Oklahoma.
Senior All-American Jessica Peng seeks to lead MSU after placing in the Top 30 in the opener. Peng and Ji Eun Baik set the pace as the only Bulldogs in the lineup to have played Yeaman's Hall.
Baik led the Bulldogs in the event last season, tying for 17th with a three-round 220.
Freshmen Athena Yang and Teri Doss make the trip after seeing their first collegiate action in Oklahoma last weekend. Yang posted the Bulldogs' second-lowest total (223) to tie for 39th, while Doss showed growth as she bounced back from a tough opening round.
Sophomore Katie Holt will play Yeaman's Hall for the first time looking to build on a 226 score last weekend.
