STARKVILLE — In search of its first conference road win, Mississippi State caps the month of January with a road trip to Missouri Saturday.
The 7:30 p.m. tip will air on SEC Network with Tom Hart and Andrew DeClercq calling the action. Fans can also tune in to the MSU Radio Network to hear the commentary of Jim Ellis and Richard Williams.
In their last time out, the Bulldogs (8-11, 1-6) dropped a hard-fought game at South Carolina, 84-74. I.J. Ready led the offense with 20 points and seven assists. Freshmen Quinndary Weatherspoon and Malik Newman added 19 and 15 points, respectively.
Defensively, MSU collected 10 steals and forced 18 Gamecock turnovers.
Although Missouri (8-12, 1-6) holds a 4-3 lead in the all-time series, the Bulldogs have won the last two meetings. Last year, MSU claimed its first win in Columbia with a 77-74 victory, which also marks the last game the Bulldogs have won on the road. First-year head coach Ben Howland holds a 1-0 record against the Tigers.
Mizzou suffered an 88-54 loss at Kentucky Wednesday. Wes Clark led the Tigers with 11 points. Kevin Puryear and K.J. Walton also added 10. Kentucky won the battle of the boards, 47-28.
Puryear paces the Tigers' offense with 11.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while Clark averages 10.5 points per outing.
Following Saturday's matchup, the Bulldogs return home for an SEC West showdown against Alabama Tuesday.
