
Bulldogs Back On The Road At No. 22 South Carolina

STARKVILLE — Following a thrilling win against in-state rival Ole Miss, Mississippi State travels to South Carolina Tuesday seeking its first conference road win of the season.
The 6 p.m. tip-off will air on SEC Network with John Saunders, John Sundvold and Kaylee Hartung calling the action. Jim Ellis and Richard Williams can also be heard on the MSU Radio Network broadcast.
The Bulldogs (8-10, 1-5) received stellar performances from a pair of freshmen against the Rebels to earn their first SEC win. Malik Newman tallied a career-high 25 points while Quinndary Weatherspoon added 18 points in the effort.
Seniors Gavin Ware and Craig Sword also recorded double-digit outings with 14 and 10 points, respectively, while Sword hauled in a team-high eight rebounds.
Mississippi State leads the all-time series against the Gamecocks 18-11. The Bulldogs have won seven of the last 10 meetings, including three of the last five in Columbia. South Carolina is a perfect 10-0 in Colonial Life Arena this season.
No. 22 South Carolina (17-2, 4-2) is seeking to get back to its winning ways following a 78-69 loss at Tennessee Saturday. Michael Carrera led the Gamecocks offensively with 22 points, while Duane Notice added 14.
Carrera paves the way for South Carolina, leading the team with 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. As a team, the Gamecocks average 41.8 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the league.
After Tuesday's game, MSU remains on the road with a trip to Missouri Saturday. Tip against the Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m. and will air on SEC Network.
