As the spring semester gets into full swing with classes resuming and teams working daily, we're approaching one of the bigger weekends of basketball we've had in quite some time. With our men hosting Ole Miss on Saturday and our top-10 women hosting No. 2 South Carolina on Sunday, we're expecting big crowds and great atmospheres for the duration, and I hope you'll make plans to join us.
At last count, we had under 500 tickets left for the men's game Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday we've made it a goal to get 10,000 in The Hump to cheer on Coach Schaefer's ladies. Those who have been following along know what an incredible job Coach Schaefer and his staff have done, developing Mississippi State into one of the premier programs in the country in just a few short years. They are a fun team to watch, playing strong on defense and aggressive on offense, and they are a joy to be around as a group.
Sunday at 4 p.m., it will be one the biggest match-ups in the history of the program and we want to create an atmosphere worthy of the occasion that will give our Bulldogs the home court advantage they've come to count on. We encourage you to buy tickets in advance, though we will sell them at the ticket office in The Hump on Sunday, as well, until we reach capacity. For those in the area, every student at every school in Starkville K-12 will be given a ticket at school this week so, parents, we hope you'll come, too. MSU students, as always, get in free.
Our men play at 1 on Saturday afternoon and, as we anticipate a near-capacity crowd, I'm excited for everyone to get a look at Coach Howland's squad. The results in conference play don't show it yet, but it's easy to watch the progress the team is making and be encouraged about the rest of this season and beyond. The Bulldogs have been tantalizingly close to winning against some of the SEC's best teams, and in some of the toughest environments. Hang in there with them!
For both games this weekend, we'll have the always-entertaining Flying Elvis Kings of the Court performing at halftime.

Basketball is the only sport in Starkville this weekend, but I want to wish good luck to our tennis and track teams. For the ITA Kickoff Weekend, our men's tennis team is playing in Tampa, Florida, while our women are in Durham, North Carolina. Our track teams will be competing in Birmingham this weekend at the Auburn Invitational.
A reminder that the renewal deadline for season tickets for baseball was last week, so season ticket packages are now on sale to the public. Please call the Bulldog Club or visit www.hailstate.com/tickets to secure yours.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
