September 02, 2015 | Softball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – As the construction on the $6-million project for a new Mississippi State softball stadium continues, head coach Vann Stuedeman announced Wednesday a contest that will allow fans to name a tournament the Bulldogs will host in 2016.
The three-day, six-team event will begin Friday, March 4 and conclude Sunday, March 6. Participating programs include host Mississippi State, along with Central Arkansas, Longwood, Northwestern State, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Western Kentucky.
The lucky fan whose entry is selected will throw out the first pitch at the game of their choice during the event and will also receive an MSU softball prize pack.
Fans can submit their tournament names on Twitter by tweeting their submissions to @HailStateSB with the hashtag #HailState. Fans can submit an unlimited number of tournament names until the contest closes at 4 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The new facility will have 1,000 chairback seats for fans, an athletic training room, video board in left field and numerous other enhancements. The facility will also host the 2016 Southeastern Conference Tournament, May 11-14.
The Bulldogs will open their facility on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 against Georgia Southern.
