
Bougard To Compete In IAAF World Championships

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After completing a successful season at Mississippi State that ended on the national stage, Erica Bougard joins Team USA to compete in the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China.

With one outdoor season left at Mississippi State, Bougard is one of the most decorated Bulldogs in program history.
"We are all very proud of Erica and her success," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "She is not just representing the USA, but also her home state of Mississippi. She's been a great addition to our team over the past few years and we wish her the best of luck this weekend."
In July, Bougard earned her spot on Team USA after finishing third in the heptathlon at the senior USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships. She scored a personal-best and school record 6,288 points in the event.
This past outdoor campaign for the Maroon and White, Bougard had a phenomenal season that ended on the national stage. She placed fourth in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after scoring 6,050 points.
Also at the outdoor championships, Bougard competed in the 100m hurdles and the high jump in which she finished 15th and 17th, respectively.
The Byhalia, Miss., native's best performance in the heptathlon during the 2015 season came at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by MSU. At the championships, Bougard was crowned the 2015 SEC Heptathlon Champion after breaking four meet records. On her home track, she scored 6,250 points, the most points scored in championship history.
After the completion of the SEC Championships, Bougard was the first MSU female to be named to The Bowerman Trophy Watch-List. She was also named the women's SEC Field Athlete of the Year.
During the 2015 indoor season, Bougard was named the SEC Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Year after finishing second in the pentathlon with 4,376 points and third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.14. She was also the runner-up in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
As a sophomore, Bougard was the 2013 NCAA Indoor Pentathlon Champion after scoring 4,399 points.
