December 31, 2015 | Softball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the early period of National Signing Day having come and gone, the Mississippi State softball program improved with the addition of seven to its' 2016 signing class during the early signing period.
“When we recruit we look for young women that will help our program on and off the field and this signing class displays that,” head coach Vann Stuedeman said. “We were able to round up a class that has thrived in all aspects of the game and they will make an impact as soon as they step on campus. They will help our program continue to excel and compete for championships and I cannot wait for our fans to see them in person in the future.”
MSU got even deeper inside the pitching circle with the addition of Emily Mitchell (Calhoun, Ga.) of Calhoun High School. The class will also add depth to the Bulldog infield with five of the seven being classified as infielders.
Bevia Robinson (Hunstville, Ala.) is the lone signee not coming directly from high school as she joins MSU from Pensacola State College. Utility player Ashlee Sanders (Birmingham, Ala.) hails from the very same program that junior Bulldog slugger Caroline Seitz came from, Oak Mountain High School.
Madison Dorsett (Trussville, Ala.) of Hewitt-Trussville High School will serve as an infielder and outfielder for the Bulldogs, as will Montana Davidson (Hillsborough, N.C.) of Orange High School. USM-Wright Preparatory School product Lindsey Williams (Mobile, Ala.) will add infield experience, as will catcher and infielder Lexi Malone (Petal, Miss.) of Petal High School.
Stuedeman enters her fifth season in charge of the Bulldog program, having reached the NCAA Tournament in each of her first four seasons with 33 or more wins each campaign. She is joined by third-year assistant Tyler Bratton, who works with outfielders, and second-year assistant Samantha Ricketts, who works with the MSU infielders and hitters.
