
MSU Looks To Get Back On Track Wednesday At FSU

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State seeks to get back in the win column Wednesday night against Florida State as it closes a two-game road stretch in Tallahassee.
Wednesday night's action tips at 8 p.m. CT and will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Karl Ravech and Mo Cassera will provide the broadcast commentary, while Jim Ellis and Richard Williams can be heard on the MSU Radio Network.
Freshman Malik Newman recorded a career-high 18 points for the Bulldogs (4-4) in a 72-67 road setback to UMKC on Saturday. Newman also tied his previous high with four three-point field goals. Gavin Ware and Craig Sword also added 12 points in the effort. Defensively, MSU forced a season-best 17 turnovers.
Ware and Travis Daniels each logged a team-best 7 rebounds against UMKC. Ware's performance landed him at 10th place all-time in school history with 716 rebounds.
Mississippi State holds a 5-4 record against the Seminoles, winning a 62-55 thriller in Starkville a season ago. The Bulldogs, who have also won the last two meetings, return to Tallahassee for the first time since 1955.
Junior College transfer Benji Bell had his best performance of the season to lead the Seminoles (6-2) passed Southeastern Louisiana 75-58 in their last outing. Bell scored a career-high 18 points off the bench in the win, including a perfect 4-for-4 mark from three-point range.
Malik Beasley added 16 points and hauled in a game-high 8 rebounds against the Lions. Beasley paces the FSU offense with 18.3 points per game and is second on the team with 4.5 rebounds per game.
Mississippi State returns to Humphrey Coliseum Saturday to face its most familiar non-conference foe in Tulane. Saturday's matchup, which marks the 94th meeting between the schools, tips at 3 p.m. on SEC Network.
