Bulldogs Look To Extend Winning Streak To Three Straight

The Bulldogs (3-3) used impressive performances from Gavin Ware and Quinndary Weatherspoon en route to a 76-51 win against UT Martin Saturday. Ware tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, and leads the team with 20.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Weatherspoon's career-high 16 points earned him SEC Freshman of the Week honors. He shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor against the Skyhawks and has averaged 8.7 points per game in his young Bulldog career.
Defensively, MSU won the battle on the boards 43-27 and limited UT Martin to the fewest points allowed all season.
Mississippi State and Texas Southern have met just once on the hardwood, with the Bulldogs claiming a 95-64 win at home in December of 1996. Mississippi State also holds a 24-4 all-time advantage against teams from the SWAC.
In their last outing, the Tigers (1-5) fell to Washington State 77-65 on Saturday. Malcolm Riley led all scorers with 23 points to go along with a team-high six rebounds, while Chris Thomas added 20 points in the setback against the Cougars. For the season, Riley leads the Tigers in points (16.3) and rebounds (5.3) per game.
Following Wednesday's game, Mississippi State travels for a two-game road swing. MSU opens the road trip at UMKC Dec. 12 before traveling to Florida State Dec. 16.
