November 06, 2015 | Football
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mississippi State (7-2, 3-2 SEC) threw its way to a 31-13 victory over Missouri (4-5, 1-5) on the road Thursday night. It was the most points scored against the Tiger defense all season, soaring past the previous high of 21.
“That was a great win for us,” head coach Dan Mullen said.
State senior quarterback Dak Prescott had another career game as he scored his 100th career touchdown responsible for, good for sixth all-time in SEC history. Prescott was 27-of-40 for 303 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 47 yards as MSU's leading rusher.
Catching his passes, junior receivers Fred Ross and De'Runnya Wilson had big nights, as well. Ross tied a career-high with 11 receptions, racking up 115 yards and catching State's opening touchdown. With two touchdown connections, Wilson and Prescott tied Tyler Russell and Chad Bumphis for the most touchdowns by an MSU quarterback-wide receiver duo with 17. Wilson totaled 102 yards on four catches.
The defensive line for the Bulldogs had one of its best collective days, tallying 11 tackles for loss, including five sacks and three quarterback hurries. A pair of interceptions helped seal the game, as well, for a defense that hasn't given up a fourth-quarter touchdown all season.
“I really feel, every single week since the Texas A&M game, we've improved as a team,” Mullen said. “I think we've played better for four straight weeks.”
