
Bulldogs Back At The Hump To Face Skyhawks

Saturday's action tips at noon and will be broadcast on SEC Network+. Bart Gregory and Matt Wyatt will provide the broadcast commentary, while Jim Ellis and Richard Williams have the call on the MSU Radio Network.
In its last game, Mississippi State (2-3) used a 45-point first-half performance to surge passed Missouri State 84-70 in the concluding round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic. Gavin Ware turned in another stellar outing against the Bears, leading all scorers with 25 points en route to becoming the 35th player in MSU history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Ware leads the Bulldogs with 19.6 points per game and has scored at least 20 points in three of the first five games of the year.
Malik Newman, I.J. Ready and Craig Sword also posted double-digit outings against Missouri State with 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively. Ready also tallied a career-high 11 assists on the evening, earning his first-career double-double.
Mississippi State leads the all-time series against UT Martin 7-1, winning the last matchup 76-50 in 2011. The Bulldogs also claim a 36-4 record against teams currently in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Skyhawks (2-4) are also coming off of a win, besting Harris-Stowe 83-57 on Wednesday, and are riding a two-game winning streak. Senior Myles Taylor recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win to give the Skyhawks their first double-double performance of the season.
Alex Anderson paces the Skyhawk offense with 13.8 points per game and leads the OVC with 21 3-point field goals made. Saturday will also serve as a homecoming for Starkville-native Jacolby Mobley. Mobley has led UT Martin in scoring against Oklahoma State (19 points) and James Madison (16 points).
Following Saturday's action, MSU will host Texas Southern Wednesday at 7 p.m. on SEC Network.
