
Bulldogs Return To Hump To Face Jaguars

Veterans Gavin Ware and I.J. Ready paced the Bulldogs in a thrilling come-from-behind 106-88 victory against Eastern Washington in front of a sellout crowd of 9,931. Ware posted game-highs with 26 points and 13 rebounds while Ready scored a career-high 25 points in the win.
Seniors Travis Daniels and Fred Thomas also provided double-digit outings, scoring 16 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman Quinndary Weatherspoon tallied 12 points and senior Johnny Zuppardo added six in their debuts for MSU.
The Bulldogs controlled the boards, out rebounding EWU 40-25. MSU's defense also limited the Eagles to just 8 points off the bench.
Monday night's game will mark the first meeting between the two border schools.
Southern fell to Arkansas 86-68 in its season-opener Friday night in Fayetteville. Christopher Hyder logged a game-high 22 points along with a team-high five rebounds. Adrian Rodgers and Chris Thomas also contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Jaguars.
As a team, the Jags shot 41.5 percent from the field, including a 60.9 percent shooting performance in the second half.
Following Monday's matchup, the Bulldogs travel to San Juan as part of the Puerto Rico Classic. The Bulldogs open the eight-team tournament Thursday against Miami (FL). Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN2.
