
Track & Field Teams Collect Four Wins At Commodore Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the conclusion of the Commodore Invitational, the Mississippi State track and field teams brought home four wins on day two.
After running a time of 8.60 to qualify for the 60-meter hurdle finals, junior Ste'yce McNeil went on to win with a time of 8.34 placing her as the fourth best-time in MSU school history. On the men's side Jovan Davis placed first in the finals running a time of 7.95, after qualifying with a time of 8.00.
"I thought our athletes competed well today," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "We are coming home with some solid wins, but it's still early in the season. We have a quick turn around before the meet next Wednesday and we have to come out better and stronger every week."
Shayla Luckett also brought home a win for the Bulldogs in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.23. Luckett was followed by teammates Ocian Archer (25.39) in third, Euricka Hardy (25.60) in sixth and Brianna Smith (25.75) in eighth.
Charles Taylor finished first in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.73. Taylor was followed by Juston Waters (21.97) in third and Marshall Nunn (22.24) in fourth.
The quartet of Luckett, McNeil, Archer and Kamari Martin placed second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:47.12. Teammates Hardy, Mia Meydrich, Madison Milhoan and Abigail Dill finished ninth after running a time of 4:15.83.
On the men's side Taylor, Scottie Hearn, Dustin James II and Rodrigo Rocha placed second in the men's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:11.25, with teammates Waters, Wesley White, Nunn and Davis (3:18.61) finishing in third.
Freshman Carly Terp competed for the Bulldogs in the 3000-meter run finishing sixth (10:25.86). Distance runners Emma Neigel (5:08.43), Mia Meydrich (5:09.62) and Madison Milhoan (5:14.80) finished 13th, 15th and 20th respectively in the mile run.
In the field, senior Ebony Brinker finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 41-10.75.
Sasha-Gaye Marston placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 40-02.25. Immediately following Marston in 10th place was Haley Reynolds (39-05.25).
