Originally scheduled for 36 holes, the first-day action was suspended midway through the second round due to darkness. After turning in a 322 during the six-hour long opening round, the Lady Bulldogs own a 19-over just over halfway through the second round.
MSU is currently 12th and claims a six-stroke lead over 27th-ranked Penn State. State is only four strokes behind No. 46 Wisconsin.
"Today was as tough as I have ever seen on a course without cancellation," third-year MSU head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "We are not 100 percent either with several players challenged by some medical issues. So we are focused on what we can control, which is our routine, attitude and persevere."
Gabi Oubre' is currently the Lady Bulldogs' leader. Through 36 holes, the freshman is 9-over but has posted par thus far in round two. Oubre' is tied for 17th and in search of her second-consecutive Top 25 card.
Ally McDnald notched a 78 in the first round and is 4-over through 12 holes in the second. The standout sophomore's 10-over is currently 23rd in the 96-player field.
Elena Warren (+16), Rica Tse (+18) and Mary Langdon Gallagher (+22) round out the Maroon and White leaderboard.
Coastal Carolina, No. 45 East Carolina and No. 23 Notre Dame are all tied atop the leaderboard at 33-over. No. 40 UCF and No. 35 Campbell round out the Top 5 with a 34-over and 36-over, respectively.Rosie Davies (Indiana) and Brittany Henderson (Coastal Carolina) are tied for the individual lead as each are 2-over through a round and a half.
Second-round action resumes Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. CST with the Lady Bulldogs on holes nine through 12. The final round of the Briar's Creek Invitational will immediately follow.
