Lady Bulldog Golf Climbs Standings At Sir Pizza Cards Challenge

WESTON, Fla. – Second round action concluded at the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge with the Mississippi State women's golf team knocking eight strokes off its tally from the first round climbing into twelfth place. The Lady Bulldogs fired a 310 in the second round and have totaled 628 strokes thus far at the Weston Hills Golf Course in Weston, Fla.
Mallory Batson and Erika Thornton have their senior leadership on display in the tournament through the first two rounds.
Batson has paced the lady linksters in the tournament with a 77 and 75 in the first two rounds respectively. Batson is currently tied for 14th place - just two strokes out of the top 10.
Thornton has trailed Batson by only one stroke each of the first two rounds. Monday Thornton fired a 4-over-par 76 to climb into a tie for 24th.
Freshman Mary Langdon Gallagher and sophomore Maria Roos thwacked a 79 and 80 respectively to complete the second round with 164 totals.
Junior Perry Katherine Furr rounded out the Lady Bulldogs day finishing one stroke behind Gallagher and Roos for the tournament.
The final round of the tournament is set for an 9:30 a.m. CST shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
