McDonald's 1-Under-Par Paces Lady Bulldogs In Round One

McDonald's new career-best 1-under-par is also a team-best for the season and the 11th best in the lady linkster record books. She trails Chelsey Cothran (Baylor) and Teo Peplawski (Idaho) after the duo fired a 69.
The Lady Bulldogs' opening-round 302 earned a tie of tenth-place, just eight strokes out of the Top 5. The 302 clip is the best round by MSU since last year's Price's "Give 'Em Five" event and is tied for the 16th-best round in the program's history.
Long Beach State fired a 287 to open the tournament atop the leaderboard.
McDonald was trailed by Perry Katherine Furr's 76. Furr is one of only two Lady Bulldogs to ever play the NMSU Golf Course. In her only other appearance at the even she set a career-best round at 73.
Elena Warren notched a 5-over-par 77 while Mary Langdon Gallagher and Rica Tse both carded 78's in the first round.
"We performed better today," MSU Coach Brown-Lemm. "Mentally we did a better job, and it showed with a high score of 78 for the team. We are a very young squad with lots to learn, but we are making strides every round. We still are throwing shots away in decision making, but we are moving in the right direction."
