Chelsea Bramlett Named NFCA First Team All-Region

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The honors continue to mount for Mississippi State senior Chelsea Bramlett, who was named NFCA First Team All-Region for the fourth time in her career, the association announced on Thursday.
The Cordova, Tenn., will now have the opportunity to earn her school-record fourth first team All-America honor, joining former Tennessee pitcher Monica Abbott as the only players in SEC history to claim first team accolades each year of their career.
"We are very proud of Chelsea for earning this great honor," Mississippi State head coach Jay Miller said. "She had the best season of her career this year and was the catalyst for our offense. Chelsea has been a great representative for Mississippi State, and we are excited that she has the chance to finish her career a four-time All-American."
Bramlett, a top 10 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year and the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, earned this latest honor following a stellar senior campaign that saw her claim her third All-SEC First Team accolade and fourth nod overall.
She set a new SEC single-season record with a .536 batting average that ranks second in NCAA Division I. She also paced the league with a school second-most 98 hits, six triples and 61 stolen bases that also top the national ranks.
Bramlett proved to be a difficult out this season, reaching base in 51 of State's 55 games this season, including 24-of-27 SEC games
The United States National Team member set MSU's single-season steals record for the fourth-consecutive season after swiping 55-straight bases to open the year and a school-record 63 going back to the 2009 campaign. Her steals tally ranks third in league history and is tied for the 10th-most in NCAA annals.
Bramlett finished a stellar career with a .461 batting average that is the best ever for both MSU and the SEC. She swiped 207 bases over her four years in the Maroon and White, ranking second in both SEC and NCAA Division I lore.
This season she also became State's record holder for career hits (359) and runs scored (219). Both marks rank her third in the SEC record books.
