Bramlett, Bailey Earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State seniors Chelsea Bramlett and Jessie Bailey have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced recently.
Both players are now eligible to earn Academic All-America honors from the organization.
"This is a tremendous honor for Chelsea and Jessie. They are both very deserving of this award," Mississippi State head coach Jay Miller said. "Hopefully they will both go on to earn All-America accolades. Both are well-qualified for this award and have meant so much to our program the past four years. It's nice to see their hard work on and off the field recognized."
Bramlett nabbed first-team catcher honors for the third-straight year after claiming second team Academic All-America accolades last season and first-team honors in 2008. She posted a 3.61 GPA in teaching and coaching.
Bramlett capped her career by posting the best batting average in SEC history for a season (.536) and a career (.461). She set the school's career hits and runs scored records while finishing second in SEC and NCAA history with 207 career stolen bases. The top 25 finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year and top 10 selection for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award concluded the 2010 season with 61 stolen bases, the most in the nation this season and the third-most in SEC history.
Bailey earned her inaugural first team selection after being a second-team infielder the past two years. Bailey, MSU's Newsome Award winner this season, earned her degree in accounting in May while posting a 3.97 grade-point average.
The Lithonia, Ga., native enjoyed a career year at the plate in her MSU swan song, tallying a .296 batting average while ranking second on the squad with a personal-best 11 doubles.
