
Bulldog Softball Closes Road Swing with Three-Game Series at Arkansas

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Mississippi State softball team closes a 13-game road swing this weekend as it travels to Fayetteville, Ark., for a three-game Southeastern Conference series against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The two teams open the weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. Sunday's series finale is also set for a 1 p.m. first pitch from Bogle Park.

The Bulldogs take a 19-13 overall record and 2-4 SEC mark to Fayetteville after claiming a 9-6 win against Mississippi Valley State Wednesday afternoon in Itta Bena, Miss.
The Razorbacks (18-11 overall, 3-2 SEC) host MSU having lost three of their last four games, including a 6-1 setback to Oklahoma on Wednesday.
Senior all-American Chelsea Bramlett's SEC-leading .514 batting average paces a Bulldog squad that holds the league's fourth-highest batting average (.316).
The Cordova, Tenn., native has scored 36 runs this season and added 15 RBI while going 40-for-40 on the bases for a 1.25 average that ranks second nationally. Going back to the 2009 season, Bramlett has successfully swiped a school-record 48 consecutive bases.
Mississippi State's career batting average leader (.450), Bramlett needs just three hits to top the career hits chart.
Sophomore Ka'ili Smith bumped her average back to the .400 mark on Wednesday. The Kapolei, Hawaii, native has hit eight of State's school seventh-most 23 home runs while pacing the Dawgs with an SEC-best 36 RBI.
The Bulldog pitching staff has been led this season by freshman Kylie Vry and redshirt sophomore Misty Flesher. Flesher tops the squad with seven victories, while Vry paces the Mississippi State in strikeouts (45) and innings pitched (71.1). Sophomore Lindsey Dunlap and freshman Stephanie Becker have won three games each this season.
Arkansas has been a difficult team to defeat at home, putting together a 7-3 mark at Bogle Park thanks to the powerful hitting of Jessica Bachkora and the emergence of Hope McLemore in the circle.
Bachkora, a .376 hitter, ranks second in the conference with 10 home runs. Her 21 RBI stand second on the team behind Sandra Smith, who has driven in 31 runs while hitting .360 with eight round-trippers.
McLemore has been victorious 10 times this season. She has allowed 31 runs, 23 earned, while striking out 83 over 83.2 innings.
Following the weekend set, the Dawgs return home on Wednesday to host Southern University before welcoming the Kentucky Wildcats for a three-game series Friday and Saturday at the MSU Softball Field.
