Lady Bulldogs Complete Stellar Day in Round Two

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Mississippi State's women's golf team jumped two spots into a tie for fourth place by firing a three over par 291 in Tuesday's second round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
Entering the day tied for sixth place overall, the Lady Bulldogs tied for the tournament's lowest score of the day with the fourth-lowest mark in school history. The Lady Bulldogs' 588 score through the opening two rounds stands as the third-best 36-hole score in program history.
Individually, the lady linksters kept their pace from round one. Senior Mallory Batson tied her career high with a 2-under-par 70. Freshmen Mary Langdon Gallagher and Esther Huffman both carded 73s in the second round. Still battling an upper respiratory infection, senior Erika Thornton matched her opening-round 75, while sophomore Maria Roos also finished the second round with a 75.
Batson is excited with how well the team has come together and is performing on the course.
“It's so great to see us coming together as a team and shooting the low scores we know we are capable of,” she said. “We have great team chemistry and a great work ethic. It's all showing on the golf course, and I'm just happy to be in the Maroon and White.”
Mississippi State tees off round three at 9:00 CT on Wednesday.
