Gallagher Leads Lady Bulldogs In First Round

STARKVILLE, MISS. – Mississippi State freshman Mary Langdon Gallagher shot even par for the first round to tie for 11th place at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs shot a 297, tying them for 6th place in the tournament field.
Seniors Mallory Batson and Erika Thornton along with sophomore Maria Roos fell just behind Gallagher with 3-over-par 75s for the round. Freshman Esther Huffman finished three strokes behind the trio with an opening-round 78.
Coach Ginger Brown-Lemm was proud of what her team accomplished in the first round and is ready to get back on the course.
“I'm proud of the ladies today,” she said. “We needed a solid start, and we got one. Mary Langdon Gallagher put her strong final round showing to use by flipping that to the opening round today. Overall, we are excited to see ourselves believe in this new team and rise to the challenge. We have lofty goals, but they have the work ethic, desire and commitment to get there.”
Mississippi State tees off round two at 9:30 CT on Tuesday.
