A crowd of 662, the sixth-largest in MSU softball history, was in attendance as the Bulldogs moved to 22-22 overall and 4-15 in the Southeastern Conference.
State sophomore Jessie Spain kicked off the decisive fifth inning with a single to the shortstop.

“Ka'ili has been hitting them like that all year in practice. I've been waiting for her to do that in a game, and she finally broke through with one today,” Bulldog head coach Jay Miller said. “It was nice to see the way she adjusted after a bad at-bat her previous time at the plate.”
Broyles fell to 10-8 as she allowed the four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

State's offense left put together a seven-hit attack in the day's second game, but the Bulldogs left eight runners on base.
Bramlett paced MSU's seven-hit attack in the setback, collecting a pair of hits in four at-bats. The Cordova,

After leaving another runner in scoring position in the fourth, the Bulldogs put the tying run at third in the fifth inning.
USC responded with its final run in the top of the sixth. With one out, Mendes lined a double to the gap in right-center. She moved to third on a Voigt base hit and scored as Stubblefield dropped a base hit into left-center.
