Leading the Bulldogs was standout junior Jarvis Varnado, who sank 6-of-11 shots from the field for 14 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Phil Turner and freshman Dee Bost each pitched in 12 points and combined for 14 rebounds while all-SEC junior Barry Stewart claimed 11 points and three steals.

Taking a 38-21 lead into halftime,
“I do not think we had what we needed to win tonight,” MSU coach Rick Stansbury said. “We have had some tough losses this season, but I do not think I have gone into the locker room this season after a tough loss thinking our guys did not leave it all on the floor.”
