MState (10-2) picked up its seventh straight win, and the Bulldog pitchers combined for four shut-outs in the tournament.
“It was nice to get four shutouts on the weekend. Our pitchers did a great job all weekend,” MSU head coach Jay Miller said. “I thought we adjusted well at the plate. It was a good learning weekend for our freshmen. We played well defensively, and I think we improved from last weekend.”
“Kelsey did a great job for us. She really came out strong and dominated from the start. Lindsey did a nice job closing out the last couple of innings,” Miller said. “We unfortunately hit some hard balls right at them, but we did a nice job of getting an early lead and making it hold up.”
State's offense staked the Bulldogs to the early advantage with a run in the first. Bramlett, who went 2-for-2 and earned Most Valuable Player honors, beat out a ground ball to the pitcher to lead off the game. After stealing second, Bramlett took third on an Allie Heon flyout and scored on an Ali Bainbridge sacrifice fly to put MState up 1-0.

The Bulldog bats padded the lead with another run in the bottom of the sixth. Bramlett drew a walk to lead off the inning. She moved to second on a Heon ground ball to third and on the throw to first, the Cordova,
After Ali Bainbridge's hard line drive to the right side of the infield was snagged by SIUE second baseman Lindsay Longfellow for the second out, pinch-hitter Courtney Nesbit scored Bramlett with a two-out base hit to left-center.
