Rain Cancels Sunday's Softball Rubber Match Between MSU Tennessee

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Steady rains in the Starkville area forced the cancellation of Sunday's rubber match between No. 23 Mississippi State and No. 10 Tennessee at the MSU Softball Field.
The Bulldogs (39-17, 12-12 SEC) and Lady Vols (46-10, 14-9 SEC) split Saturday's doubleheader, with State winning the opener 2-1 on Ali Bainbridge's two-run single in the seventh inning before falling 8-6 in the nightcap.
The game one victory secured State's spot in the SEC Tournament, which will be played May 8-10 in Baton Rouge, La.
MSU closes out the 2008 regular season next weekend, traveling to Fayetteville, Ark., for a three-game series with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Both Saturday's and Sunday's action is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All three games will be broadcast live on WMSV 91.1 and online at www.wmsv.msstate.edu.
