Varnado, the reigning National Defensive Player of the Year, recorded 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor to go along with his game-high 12 . He also blocking eight shots after leading the nation in blocked shots a year ago with 157. Sophomore Ravern Johnson led all scorers on the night with an 8-of-14 performance from the field for a total of 19 points, while freshman Romero Osby pitched in the team's second double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
