
Two Distance Runners Take Third; Lady Bulldogs Finish Sixth At Clemson Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. ? Senior Annie Falor took third place in the one mile run with a time of 5 minutes, 6.40 seconds and freshman Simone Domingue finished third in the 3000-meter run, running 10:08.23, as the Lady Bulldogs tallied 59 points to capture sixth place at the Clemson Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, S.C.
Running a personal-best 7.53 to advance to the finals of the 60-meter dash, junior Gabrielle Dillion ran a 7.67 to finish seventh place in the final round.
Junior-transfer Priscilla Gaines ran a time of 25:08, taking ninth in the 200-meter dash. Freshman Diamond Marks, competing in her first collegiate meet, crossed the line at 2:20.14 to finish fifth in the 800-meter run. Freshman Sarah Hammes, who also ran in the 3000-meter run with Domingue, finished in ninth place with a time of 10:27.75.
In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, junior Marissa Harris ran 8.85 and sophomore LaQuinta Aaron ran 8.89 to finish seventh and eighth place, respectively.
In the last event of the day, the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Dillion, Aaron, Gaines and Harris combined for a time of 3:57.79 to take fifth place.
Harris and junior Dorothy Youmans also competed in the high jump, jumping five feet, three inches.
With State taking sixth place, other Southeaster Conference competitors, Alabama gathered 69 points to take second place while Georgia tallied 40 points, taking seventh. Auburn rounded out the SEC, compiling 32 points good for ninth place.
MState returns to competition Thursday (Jan.31), taking part in the LSU Pentathlon in Baton Rouge, La.
