Werner J. "Dutch" Luchsinger

W.J. Luchsinger also known as “Dutch” joined the Mississippi State medical staff in 1949. He served as the head athletic trainer until his retirement in 1965. In 1960, he was invited to serve on the training staff for the 1960 Olympic Games but was unable to due to his duties at Mississippi State. In his 17 years at Mississippi State, he never had a full-time assistant.
Due to his dedication to his long service in sports medicine, he was honored by many. "Dutch" was inducted into the inaugural class for the Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
He later married and had one son.
