Tan White played basketball for Mississippi State's women's team from 2001-2005. White concluded her career as the MSU record-holder in three-point field goals made (22), three-point field goals attempted (714), steals (372), blocked shots (118) and field goals attempted (121). Today, her career steals total is still the best mark in program history and is at least 100 more steals than any other Bulldog. She became just the second Bulldog to reach the 2,000-point plateau and shattered the SEC record for career steals, a mark that ranks fifth today.
A finalist for the State Farm Wade Trophy, Naismith Award, Wooden Award and Senior CLASS Award in 2001, the Tupelo native was the nation's top scorer as a senior, averaging 23.5 points per game. She earned Kodak All-America honors and was named first-team All-SEC. After graduation, White was taken as the No. 2 overall pick of 2005 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever. She was the second Lady Bulldog to be drafted into the WNBA and played 10 seasons.
White spent four seasons with the Fever, five seasons with the Conneticut Sun and finished her career after playing one season with the Minnesota Lynx in 2014. She averaged 8.1 points, 2.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals throughout her career. White averaged 10+ points per game twice during her career, the 2007 season with the fever and 2010 season with the Sun. White was a member of the 2005 WNBA All-Rookie Team.
