Phillip "Lefty" Brandon

A Mississippi State pitcher and SEC champion, Phillip “Lefty” Brandon starred on the diamond from 1947-49.
Brandon led the team to back-to-back SEC Championship victories in his final two seasons with the Bulldogs. In 1948, he was named first team All-SEC, becoming the only player aside from Boo Ferriss to win the award at that time.
Brandon married his longtime sweetheart, Allen Ray, and following his time at Mississippi State, Brandon spent time at various schools in the state of Mississippi working as a teacher, coach and counselor. He remained an active Bulldog fan and supporter of the M-club.
After a long life, Brandon passed away in 2016. He was 94 years old.
